The Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal are back!

Montréal, August 29, 2007 – The 2007 edition of the Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal – launched earlier this summer by the two co-chairs of the Honourary Committee, Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, and Louise Roy, Chair of the Conseil des arts de Montréal – will soon announce its winners!

Organizations have until September 21 to nominate enterprises and individuals whose exceptional contribution deserves to be rewarded. Information about the competition, along with rules and a registration form are available on the following Websites: www.ccmm.qc.ca/prix_arts_affaires and www.artsmontreal.org/prixartsaffaires.php?lang=en.

The Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal seeks nominations from Montréal arts and cultural organizations that have received support from a large enterprise, SME, or individual from the business community between September 1st, 2006 and August 31, 2007.

“The Board of Trade is committed to fostering awareness in Greater Montréal's business community about the key role that culture plays in the city's development and prosperity. I am very proud of our business people's level of involvement, of the thousand-and-one surprising and remarkable ways in which they commit themselves. Be it through volunteer work, sponsorships or donations, all forms of support show the strong and fruitful partnerships that can develop between the artistic and cultural communities,” declared Isabelle Hudon.

Finalists in each of the categories will be announced at a cocktail party on Monday, October 15. The awards ceremony will follow on November 6, during a business luncheon that will bring together Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor Inc., and Lorraine Pintal, Artistic and General Director of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.

Louise Roy, Chair of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, also stated “Artists and business people share certain common qualities: energy, creativity, passion, determination. Individuals in both groups must be deeply convinced of their project in order to succeed. And when they collaborate with each other, not only is it mutually profitable but it also benefits the entire community. Business people's support of the arts is important for cultural development, and also contributes to societal progress. These awards highlight the business world's indispensable commitment to the artistic community.”
