The Griffintown project: The Board of Trade welcomes the commitment of the City of Montréal and the openness of Devimco to carrying out an ambitious, high-quality project

Montréal, April 24, 2008 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal enthusiastically welcomes both the commitment of the City of Montréal and the openness of Devimco to offering Montrealers a project of great scope and quality.

“During the public consultation held by the Southwest borough on this subject, the Board of Trade stressed the importance of the Griffintown project's meeting the highest criteria of excellence in terms of quality, spill-over impact, and innovation. We are thus pleased by the requirements presented by the City in its new Programme particulier d'urbanisme (PPU) and the developer's willingness to meet those requirements. We particularly welcome the innovative approach to the development of public transit and the sustainable development of this sector,” declared Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

“With the announcements made today, we are delighted to see that the steps leading to the realization of a high-quality project are being taken efficiently and successfully. We believe that the attitude of openness and dialogue that has characterized the development of the Griffintown Project from the beginning is today bearing fruit. We have before us a promising project that has evolved in accordance with the expressed wishes of all stakeholders, and it is now our collective duty to carry it out with determination,” concluded Hudon.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
