The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes
influential players in the Indian health sector to its forum

Montreal, May 31, 2011 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its team of experts in international trade, the World Trade Centre Montréal, are hosting major players from the Indian health sector at a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, June 1, including Suresh Shetty, Minister of Public Health, Family and State Protocol of the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Dr. Swati Piramal, Vice-Chairperson of the board of directors of Piramal Life Sciences Ltd. and Director of Strategic Alliances and Communications for Piramal Healthcare, will deliver a video testimonial during this event. Other buyers from Indian organizations such as Global Hospitals, Pyramal Life Sciences Ltd. and Batra Hospital & Medical Research Centre will be in attendance.

“The Board of Trade is delighted to offer local businesses a meeting with decision-makers in the Indian health sector, one of the most promising markets on the planet,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board and Trade.

“India has taken an unprecedented turn and is building a modern, accessible health network,” Michel Leblanc said. “We believe that the country will make investments of over $78 billion in equipment and infrastructure by 2025, which opens the door to very profitable partnerships for local businesses.”

The Board of Trade and its team of experts in international trade identified India as one of the three markets for the Exporting Quebec initiative. A number of efforts have been developed with this country over the last year, notably the 2011 India trade mission organized by the Government of Quebec last February, which the Board of Trade collaborated on.

“These initiatives allow local businesses to explore the incredible business potential of the Indian giant, and tomorrow’s activity is part of this canvassing process initiated by the Board of Trade and its partners,” Michel Leblanc said.

The breakfast meeting on Quebec’s Expertise in Healthcare to Answer India’s Needs is organized in partnership with Innovitech and MEDEC and presented by McCarthy Tétrault, in cooperation with SNC-Lavalin and the Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal—through its experts at the World Trade Centre Montréal, and with the support of Canada Economic Development—offers international trade services to the greater business community.
