The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal launches
the Mérite du français dans la PME award
Montréal, March 26, 2009 The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to partner with the Office québécois de la langue française to launch the Mérite du français dans la PME award, to be presented to companies with fewer than fifty employees that have taken steps to increase the use of French in their operations. This award will be presented for the first time during the 2010 edition of the Francofête.
There is no doubt that working in French in Montréal is invaluable. This new initiative of the Board of Trade is in line with the action plan formulated during the Rendez-vous des gens d'affaires et des partenaires socioéconomiques sur la francisation.We set ourselves the objective of rallying managers and employees around a reaffirmed commitment to promoting the use of French in all business environments. This new award will highlight the concrete actions taken by business people to Frenchify their workplaces, declared Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
The Mérite du français dans la PME award aims to recognize the efforts of companies to encourage employees to use French and to integrate them in the workplace by offering French classes, creating terminology tools, and employing the French language in communications and equipment operation, for example.
Companies established in the Greater Montréal region can apply now to win the first PME award, to be presented next March during the Mérites du français. The winner will be chosen by a jury composed of representatives of various organizations.
