Montréal, September 13, 2013 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and evenko are pleased to announce that former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani (1993-2001) will share his thoughts with the metropolitan business community on the occasion of a business luncheon. This event, made possible thanks to the support of Bell, will take place at noon on Friday, October 25, at the Sheraton Montréal Hotel, as part of the Board of Trade’s “Bell International Leaders” series. Mr. Giuliani will speak about leadership and the challenges facing the world’s major cities, and will then answer questions from the Honourable Michael M. Fortier, Vice-Chairman of the Board of RBC Capital Markets.

The two terms Rudolph Giuliani served as Mayor of NYC marked a major transition. Previously considered as the U.S. capital of crime, New York became the safest major city in the country, according to the FBI, under his leadership. On the economic front, Giuliani succeeded in turning the USD $2.3 billion municipal deficit he had inherited at the onset of his first term into a surplus. He was also instrumental in creating 450,000 new jobs in the private sector, which significantly decreased the number of social welfare recipients.
Mayor Giuliani was also acknowledged as a great leader in the very early wake of the 9/11 events, and as a result of his efforts to help get the city back on its feet after this terrible tragedy.
