The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes the announcement about plans to cover the Ville-Marie Expressway

Montréal, July 7, 2014 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes the announcement made today by Quebec’s Minister for Transport and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, Robert Poëti, as well as by the Mayor of Montréal and Chair of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, Denis Coderre, and the Montréal elected official responsible for the project, Richard Bergeron, about the first phase of work to cover the Ville-Marie Expressway.

“Today’s announcement addresses one of the priorities the Board of Trade identified during the last election campaign,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “With the new CHUM and CRCHUM, covering the Ville-Marie Expressway will make for an attractive Quartier de la santé. This structuring project will support the city’s economic development.”

“The Board of Trade congratulates the elected officials involved in this project for their leadership, collaboration, speed and thoroughness,” Michel Leblanc said. “The same applies to the quality of our infrastructures, the sound management of public resources and staying on schedule. At this rate, we can hope to see the work completed in time for Montréal’s 375th anniversary.”
