The Board of Trade of Metropolitan
Montreal
and the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce
conclude a new Partnership agreement

Montreal , February 26, 2004 - The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce the closing of a new partnership agreement with the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce. Developed in a spirit of rapprochement, this partnership is a further extension of the collaboration that has existed between these two organizations for the past few years, among other things, through the Board of Trade's service branch, World Trade Centre Montréal .

Under this partnership agreement, the members of both organizations will benefit from special prices when they participate in activities organized by both the Canadian and American organizations: business lunches, networking events, trade fairs, etc.

The two organizations plan to pursue their active and cooperative efforts on subjects of common interest such as the Quebec - New York corridor, cross-border trade at the Champlain-Lacolle border crossing, and government affairs and issues affecting both Greater Montreal and the Plattsburgh region.

“This agreement between our two boards of trade will promote exchanges between our respective members and therefore help enhance the visibility of their businesses beyond their borders. From a broader perspective, this partnership stems from a shared desire to stimulate the development of a given large economic region”, stated Benoit Labonté, president of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, today on the occasion of a business luncheon with His Excellency Paul Celluci, United States Ambassador to Canada, on the mutual cooperation and commitment between Canada and the U.S.

Garry Douglas, president and CEO of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce was also present. "This partnership can only enhance the mutually beneficial synergy which already exists between the Montreal and Plattsburgh business communities, and draw us closer together as a bi-national economic region", added Mr. Douglas.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of the Greater Montreal region and, as a contributing and responsible player, to promote the economic development of the urban area. Encompassing three specialized services ( Info entreprises , the Electronic Commerce Institute and World Trade Centre Montréal ) that serve merchants and businesses of all sizes throughout Quebec and Canada , the Board of Trade is Quebec 's leading private economic development organization.
