The Board of Trade salutes the memory and important contribution of the Honourable Jim Flaherty

Montréal, April 10, 2014 ‒ With the announcement of the death of the Honourable Jim Flaherty, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to pay tribute to the former Canadian Minister of Finance and offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

“The city’s business community is grieving today for a Montrealer who spent many years contributing to the economic development and prosperity of the country,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “The Honourable Jim Flaherty played a decisive role in the remarkable resilience of the Canadian economy during the Great Recession. His careful management of public finances and concern for maintaining a competitive corporate fiscal framework played an essential role in the economic prosperity of Quebec and Montréal.”
