Montréal, May 25, 2014 ‒ It is with great sadness that the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal learned today of the death of Marcel Côté.
“We have lost a great man,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “Marcel Côté became a familiar face to the public during the last municipal elections. But throughout his career, he offered our society the benefit of his expertise. His talents as a strategist left their mark on our country, our province and our city.”
“Marcel Côté was a visionary economist and a seasoned businessman,” Mr. Leblanc said. “He was behind the foundation of SECOR Inc., a well-known and well-respected institution. But beyond his public image as a businessman, he was an arts enthusiast and a great philanthropist. He put everything he had into any cause he supported. The city and the business community are grieving the loss of a man with special qualities and singular passion. On a personal note, I have lost a mentor and a friend.
