The Board of Trade salutes Paul Desmarais, a great builder

Montréal, October 9, 2013 ‒ After the announcement of the death of Paul Desmarais, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to offer his family and loved ones its most sincere condolences.

The city’s business community is mourning the loss of a great Montrealer today. From modest beginnings, Paul Desmarais built one of the greatest business success stories Quebec has ever known. Through his perseverance, vision and tremendous talent as a manager, he created a remarkable enterprise that reminds all Quebecers that we can succeed at home and abroad. In addition to his contribution to the Canadian business world, this great patron gave back generously to the community through his many philanthropic activities.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal’s flag flies at half mast today. One of Canada’s greatest businessmen has left us.
