HEC to head back downtown: a new responseto the business community’s needs

Montréal, October 17, 2016 ‒ The CCMM welcomes the Government of Québec’s decision to ratify the opportunity case for plans for a new HEC Montréal building in downtown Montréal. Having the school in the heart of the business district will expand the professional development offer to promote the acquisition of management skills and enable businesses and schools to work closer together. The CCMM proposed the creation of HEC Montréal in 1892.

“Montréal is already well served for initial university studies in management,” said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. “But there is a glaring need for professional development services near where people work. This new HEC Montréal building will improve what is available to meet these needs. The geographical proximity will also make it possible to conduct joint activities between schools and businesses and promote greater flexibility by the university in adapting its programs to changing job market needs. This reflects one of the six winning conditions outlined in the study on the contribution of universities that the Chamber of Commerce and Montréal International published at the beginning of the month.”
