Former First Lady Michelle Obama at the Chamber: A high point for Montréal!

Montréal, February 6, 2018 – The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is proud of the success of former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to its stage, the biggest crowd-drawing event in the Chamber’s history.

“We are very pleased to have had the chance to host a speaker as inspiring and beloved as Michelle Obama at the Chamber. It is an excellent way to kick off 2018. Mrs. Obama took advantage of her trip to Montréal to share a message of hope and to emphasize the role that we all have to play in society’s improvement. Her conversation with Sévrine Labelle, President and CEO of Femmessor, captivated all those in attendance,” declared Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.

“We were able to see the enthusiasm and affection that Montrealers have for the former First Lady of the United States. The excitement was palpable in the 10,200 people who came to hear her speak. The presence of Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, Montréal Mayor Valérie Plante, and several ministers and elected officials underlined the community’s keen interest in this prestigious speaker. The crowd also included 2,000 young guests from our community’s universities, foundations and organizations. It is always a great pleasure to welcome our future leaders to the Chamber’s events, and we are delighted to have given them the opportunity to join us to hear the former First Lady,” added Michel Leblanc.

“We would like to thank all of our partners and suppliers, who have been by our side throughout the organization of this event. Without their support and professionalism we could not have organized an event of this scale,” concluded Michel Leblanc.

This event by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal was organized with the support of Bell and was presented by the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec, in association with evenko and in collaboration with BMO, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, CN, Investissement Québec, Lavery Lawyers, Power Corporation of Canada, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Saputo. The Chamber would also like to thank its media collaborators: CJAD, Le Devoir and the Montreal Gazette.
