Effective solutions for sustainable mobility

For a few months now, the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal has been working to educate the business community about sustainable mobility and to promote good mobility practices.

One practice is an employee commute management plan, which can help companies recruit and retain employees, increase their motivation and effectiveness, and reduce absenteeism. The solutions in this plan are concrete and can give companies great results! The practices fall under three main categories: public transit, carpooling, and active transportation.

To learn about solutions at companies that have already adopted an employee commute plan, watch the Chamber’s video: Sustainable mobility measures to improve employee commutes.

The amount of road work this fall is a chance to remind employers how sustainable mobility measures help improve well-being at work and increase productivity.

Major work in Montréal: A big reason for sustainable mobility

In November and December 2017, Montréal will be teeming with construction work, particularly in the south-west sector. Since this large-scale work will affect road users throughout the metropolitan region, it is important for employers to do what they can to improve mobility and encourage their employees to change their travel choices.

Infrastructure being built for the Turcot Interchange will lead to new configurations in the road network this fall that will dramatically change the commute habits of 300,000 motorists. The Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports wants people to take public transit and other types of transportation to work instead of going it alone in their cars.

To help your employees get discounts on their annual transit passes or if you want consulting services to create a sustainable mobility plan for your business, consult the Resources for Businesses section on the Mobility Montréal website.

Implementing a sustainable mobility model for your business improves employee well-being, increases productivity, and gets traffic flowing in the metropolitan area.
