2011: the year of the entrepreneur: a strategic decision in our economic recovery

Press release

2011: the year of the entrepreneur:
a strategic decision in our economic recovery

Montréal, January 25, 2011 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its team of experts in entrepreneurship – Info entrepreneurs – are delighted with Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s announcement making 2011 the year of the entrepreneur.

“We are very enthusiastic about this decision, which echoes our concerns,” says Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade. “Entrepreneurship remains fragile in Canada and even more so in Quebec, where there are fewer entrepreneurs than in the rest of the country.”

“The federal government’s announcement fits in with our vision that economic recovery will follow from strong entrepreneurship and the dynamic, innovative spirit of small businesses,” says Michel Leblanc. “The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal works directly with entrepreneurs. It encourages Montréal area small businesses to take advantage of the advice of Info entrepreneurs experts for the information needed to start and grow their business.”

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is made up of some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montréal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity, and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
