Context
The Construction sector is one of Quebec’s economic powerhouses, responsible for more than 500,000 jobs and representing over 12% of the province’s GDP. It also offers high added value, contributing to Quebecers’ quality of life and enhancing our business environment through the construction of new and more efficient buildings and infrastructure across the province. Historically, this sector has always played an important role in public economic stimulus strategies. This remains true today, given the government’s clear priorities to fast-track major construction and infrastructure projects. The current situation presents opportunities to find new solutions for workforce challenges, to develop advanced technologies that will help our businesses stand out, and to re-examine the way builders do business to improve their efficiency.
- Demonstrate its economic and strategic importance for the city
- Identify and specify the effects, challenges and opportunities stemming from the COVID-19 crisis
- Present the recovery or sectoral assistance strategies implemented elsewhere that may apply in Québec
- Suggest courses of action and sectoral recommendations to political decision makers in Greater Montréal (spearheaded by the Chamber and its partners)
- Promote the ability to rebound through innovation, new business models and corporate strengths
- Demonstrate the role that the sector can play in supporting the recovery of the hardest-hit sectors
- Identify business challenges and opportunities for companies in the short, medium and long term
- Define potential courses of action to strengthen the sector based on established strategic priorities
Event format in a nutshell
