The seminar in brief

Located in the heart of East Asia, Vietnam is the 14th most populated country in the world and the 9th most populated country in Asia, with over 94 million inhabitants. It is a dynamic and burgeoning market that offers multiple opportunities for exporters and investors. The country is overflowing with potential for companies searching for new markets: 60% of the population is of working age, and its middle class is projected to double by 2020.

The trade relationship between Canada and Vietnam is not new: the two countries have just celebrated 45 years of partnership and bilateral cooperation. Vietnam offers Canadian businesses opportunities in many fields, including agriculture and the agri-food industry, education, aeronautics, oil, natural gas and information technology (IT).

In order to better understand Vietnamese business culture and create solid partnerships with local professionals, it is essential to master the country’s operational, administrative and cultural subtleties, which can be quite complex.

On October 19, 2018, participate in a seminar on business opportunities in Vietnam. This seminar will allow you to take stock of the current situation in Vietnam and learn about the different facets of the country such as its business culture, legal and fiscal framework, and potential business sectors.

A unique opportunity to:

  • Evaluate your business development potential in Vietnam;
  • Network with other Quebec companies that are interested in the market;
  • Get advice from experts and companies that are active in this Asian country.

Why Vietnam?

A fast-growing market

  • Vietnam has a fast-growing economy, with a projected GDP growth of over 6.3% in 2018.
  • Vietnam is Canada’s biggest trade partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
  • Both countries participate in numerous agreements and organizations, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
  • Canadian exports to Vietnam reached over $800 million in 2017.

The CPTPP, a free-trade agreement that will stimulate the economy

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is a new free-trade agreement signed by 11 countries, including Canada and Vietnam. Once in effect, the CPTPP will be one of the most important free-trade agreements in the world and will improve access to some key Asian markets.
