Taking action, the focus of our Forum on AI

In 2018, the Chamber held its first Strategic Forum on artificial intelligence, which provided a bridge between the business community and Montréal’s rich artificial intelligence ecosystem. The event demonstrated the mobilization of Montréal’s business community around the SCALE AI project, the artificial intelligence supply chain supercluster.

In the wake of this huge success, a second edition followed last year, with the main goal of prompting companies from home and abroad, research centres and government to focus on collaboration to generate new AI projects. For the occasion, 850 leaders from different milieus gathered to assess the contribution of artificial intelligence to the city’s economic development and to discuss how to move from research to commercialization.

We want to take things one step further again this year by encouraging companies to move to the action phase and to adopt artificial intelligence.

For the third edition of our Strategic Forum on artificial intelligence, we want to give Quebec companies the tools and encouragement they need to integrate AI to their production methods and business practices. The Forum will offer an environment conducive to developing new partnerships and collaborative projects in innovation.

A strong ecosystem to benefit local businesses

Montréal’s artificial intelligence ecosystem is rich and dynamic, in part thanks to the spirit of collaboration that has made its reputation. Against a backdrop of strong international competition, our ecosystem faces many challenges – attracting and retaining talent, commercialization, ethics, and the emergence of local players. The first part of programming for the Forum will address ways to grow the AI sector in Montréal and ensure its sustainability.

Implementing AI in business: where to start?

The second part of the Forum will address the many possibilities AI offers businesses and the ways it transforms business practices. Whether in terms of logistics, recruiting talent, creative experience or cybersecurity, AI can adapt to the needs and requirements of businesses to ensure their growth and increase their competitiveness.

Artificial intelligence serving society

The third part of the Forum will bring together experts and representatives of businesses and organizations from a range of sectors. They will look at how AI offers solutions to societal challenges and discuss concrete projects in the fight against climate change, the energy transition, protecting human rights and smart cities.

Throughout the Forum, leading lights of the Quebec economy – Hydro-Québec, National Bank and Videotron – will be on hand to share how they have made this major technological shift within their organization. Key players from the Quebec ecosystem – Mila, IVADO, Prompt Innov, Element AI, Coveo, Stradigi AI – will also attend to explain how they can support companies in successfully integrating artificial intelligence solutions to their organization.

The Forum on artificial intelligence is a unique opportunity for Montréal companies to take part in an important discussion and get an advance look at AI projects currently being deployed. The Chamber encourages the business community to make this technological shift and take full advantage of the opportunities that come with artificial intelligence.
